Drop-Down Option Form (MySpace Links)

You may have seen them, or you may have used them, but here is how you can create an Option List that links to different things.

So, you start out with your Option List.

[code:1:304856fee2]<select>
<option>View More Pics</option>
<option>Send Message</option>
<option>Add to Friends</option>
<option>Add to Group</option>
<option>Forward to Friend</option>
<option>Add to Favorites</option>
<option>Block User</option>
<option>Rate User</option>
<option>View Blogs</option>
<option>View All Friends</option>
<option>View All Comments</option>
<option>View All My Groups</option>
</select>[/code:1:304856fee2]

Now, this list has to link somehow, so we make it a form by using <form> tags.
I use two attributes in the form tag. Here are what they do...
[b:304856fee2]action = uri [CT][/b:304856fee2]
[i:304856fee2]This attribute specifies a form processing agent. User agent behavior for a value other than an HTTP URI is undefined.[/i:304856fee2]
[b:304856fee2]method = get|post [CI][/b:304856fee2]
[i:304856fee2]This attribute specifies which HTTP method will be used to submit the form data set. Possible (case-insensitive) values are "get" (the default) and "post".[/i:304856fee2]

[code:1:304856fee2]<form action="" method="">
<select name="">
<option value="">View More Pics</option>
<option value="">Send Message</option>
<option value="">Add to Friends</option>
<option value="">Add to Group</option>
<option value="">Forward to Friend</option>
<option value="">Add to Favorites</option>
<option value="">Block User</option>
<option value="">Rate User</option>
<option value="">View Blogs</option>
<option value="">View All Friends</option>
<option value="">View All Comments</option>
<option value="">View All My Groups</option>
</select>
<input type="submit" value="Go!">
</form>[/code:1:304856fee2]

Now, the action="" is going to hold the main myspace URL... no, not www.myspace.com... we are going to put http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm in that spot.
and
we are going to use the GET method...

You also may see the name="" in the select tag... this is going to be the second part of the final URL that we get... that is the fuseaction in this case.

So, we have a few more things to put in place, but lets see what we have now...

[code:1:304856fee2]<form action="http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm" method="GET">
<select name="fuseaction">
<option value="">View More Pics</option>
<option value="">Send Message</option>
<option value="">Add to Friends</option>
<option value="">Add to Group</option>
<option value="">Forward to Friend</option>
<option value="">Add to Favorites</option>
<option value="">Block User</option>
<option value="">Rate User</option>
<option value="">View Blogs</option>
<option value="">View All Friends</option>
<option value="">View All Comments</option>
<option value="">View All My Groups</option>
</select>
<input type="submit" value="Go!">
</form>[/code:1:304856fee2]

So, in a sense, we are piecing together a URL with all of these attributes...
the action="" in the form is what is at the beginning...
[b:304856fee2]http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm[/b:304856fee2]
then the fuseaction goes after that...
[b:304856fee2]http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm[/b:304856fee2]?[u:304856fee2]fuseaction[/u:304856fee2]

Now we need to fill in the values for each link, each will be unique because this is what adds on to the URL above. So, if we use the value...
user.viewPicture
for the View More Pics option, then it will add to the URL like so...
[b:304856fee2]http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm[/b:304856fee2]?[u:304856fee2]fuseaction[/u:304856fee2]=[color=green:304856fee2]user.viewPicture[/color:304856fee2]

So, lets fill in the values....
[code:1:304856fee2]<form action="http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm" method="GET">>
<select name="fuseaction">
<option value="user.viewPicture" selected>View More Pics</option>
<option value="mail.message">Send Message</option>
<option value="invite.addfriend_verify">Add to Friends</option>
<option value="groups.addtogroup">Add to Group</option>
<option value="mail.forward">Forward to Friend</option>
<option value="user.addToFavorite">Add to Favorites</option>
<option value="block.blockUser">Block User</option>
<option value="RateImage.UserRating">Rate User</option>
<option value="blog.ListAll">View Blogs</option>
<option value="user.viewfriends">View All Friends</option>
<option value="user.viewComments">View All Comments</option>
<option value="groups.myGroups">View All My Groups</option>
</select>
<input type="submit" value="Go!">
</form>[/code:1:304856fee2]

One final thing.... . . .
Because these URLs do not point to your exact myspace links, we have to finish these URLs with your friend ID...
You will notice that when you go to view your pictures your URL looks like this...
[i:304856fee2]http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=yourfriendID[/i:304856fee2]

We need to somehow plug in the friendID=yourfriendID
So, lets add in a hidden input value... but it needs to go after the actual Go button... so that it adds the friendID=yourfriendID after the current URL...

So, we now have this.

[code:1:304856fee2]<form action="http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm" method="GET">>
<select name="fuseaction">
<option value="user.viewPicture" selected>View More Pics</option>
<option value="mail.message">Send Message</option>
<option value="invite.addfriend_verify">Add to Friends</option>
<option value="groups.addtogroup">Add to Group</option>
<option value="mail.forward">Forward to Friend</option>
<option value="user.addToFavorite">Add to Favorites</option>
<option value="block.blockUser">Block User</option>
<option value="RateImage.UserRating">Rate User</option>
<option value="blog.ListAll">View Blogs</option>
<option value="user.viewfriends">View All Friends</option>
<option value="user.viewComments">View All Comments</option>
<option value="groups.myGroups">View All My Groups</option>
</select>
<input type="submit" value="Go!">
<input type="hidden" name="friendID" value="yourfriendID">
</form>[/code:1:304856fee2]

When we use one of the links... say the View More Pics link now...
it goes to this link below, b/c this is where it is redirected..

[i:304856fee2]http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=yourfriendID[/i:304856fee2]

Now you should have a working Drop-Down Option Form...
Well, pretty much.

Here are a few more hidden input values that you should add in.. your code will end up looking like below.

[code:1:304856fee2]<form action="http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm" method="GET">
<select name="fuseaction" style="">
<option value="user.viewPicture" selected>View More Pics</option>
<option value="mail.message">Send Message</option>
<option value="invite.addfriend_verify">Add to Friends</option>
<option value="groups.addtogroup">Add to Group</option>
<option value="mail.forward">Forward to Friend</option>
<option value="user.addToFavorite">Add to Favorites</option>
<option value="block.blockUser">Block User</option>
<option value="RateImage.UserRating">Rate User</option>
<option value="blog.ListAll">View Blogs</option>
<option value="user.viewfriends">View All Friends</option>
<option value="user.viewComments">View All Comments</option>
<option value="groups.myGroups">View All My Groups</option>
</select>
<input type="submit" value="Go!">
<input type="hidden" name="friendID" value="yourfriendID">
<input type="hidden" name="userID" value="yourfriendID">
<input type="hidden" name="f" value="forwardprofile">
<input type="hidden" name="public" value="1">
</form>[/code:1:304856fee2]

For a link that goes back to the Home Page, just create an option as below...

[code:1:304856fee2]<option value="">Myspace Home</option>[/code:1:304856fee2]
