Posted: Thursday 20th April 11:24pm Post subject: Miscellaneous Codes and Links |
|
|
I don?t know about you, but I spend tons of time looking for code that I know is in the MyGen forums, but for the life of me can?t find it.
So I?m compiling, mostly for my benefit, some of the codes that I know are here, but I can?t find:
These are questions I?m asked all the time:
?I want to make my profile look like yours.?
-My profile is a Div overlay. There are two things you need to read before you ask me any other questions about how to do it.
1. Look at Diamondandy?s tutorial about how to make a div overlay in:
http://www.mygen.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16501
*Note: It?s a video so it?s not too painful to watch. Actually, it?s really quite entertaining
2. Go here to get a basic jist of how div code works:
http://www.lissaexplains.com/html7.shtml
Shifting the About Me section up after removing extended network and blogs
[i/]IN HEROES[/i]
</td></tr></table></td></tr></table> </td><td width="40"> </td><td valign="top" class="text"><br> <div class="hidethem"><table><tr><td><table><tr><td><table><tr><td>
VERY TOP OF ABOUT ME
</td></tr></table>
</td></tr></table>
</td></tr></table>
</div><table><tr><td>
<table width="435"><tr><td valign="top" align="left" width="435" bgcolor="ffffff" style="word-wrap:break-word"> <span class="orangetext15">About me:</span><br>
THEN PLACE THIS ANYWHERE
<STYLE>.hidethem {display:none; visibility:hidden;}</STYLE>
Putting comments in a Div Overlay:
*Note: Put at the bottom of you Who I?d Like to meet section
| Code: | | <div style="position:absolute; left:18%; top:780px; margin-left:-300px; width:300px; height:300; background-color:transparent; overflow:auto; z-index:2;"> <center><table><tr><td><table><tr><td> |
Putting image above ad and moving ad down:
| Code: | <style type="text/css">
body {margin-top: 200;}
div.header {
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 50%;
margin-left: -400px;
width: 800px;
height: 0px;
}
</style>
<div class="header"><center>INSERT PICTURE RIGHT HERE!!!</center></div> |

Pros: Streaming playback, RSS/XSPF playlists, multiple playmodes, color and size configuration. Supports album graphics. Really good about streaming enough of a song before starting it.
Cons: I haven't found any yet.
http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/
Pros: Another good MP3 player similar to that above.
Cons: No color customization, just plain boring grey.
http://www.mygen.co.uk/index.php?page=tutorials§ion=flashplayer1
Pros: I like this one, looks very Ipod-ish.
Cons: I had a problem with this one stopping a song because it wasn't streaming fast enough, and it jumped to the next song. (I'd rather have it pause the song.) This was also because it tended to play right away instead of allowing the file to get a head start. |

Hm... well, at least you can use this to make that page. Shouldn't have spent so much time if you were just gonna do it anyway. *shrugs* oh, well. |

First off I do not want to sound rude but your DIV code is wrong.. (Position wise and no end code) I am new here and I thank you MUCH for the code it just needs some different settings (if that sounded right) I am sure the help sites have the information on it, yet I am trying to save people time.. (mosty for me) If people need a different settings I am always willing to help!
<div style="position:absolute; left:10px; top:0px; margin-left:50px; width:3000px; height:5000; background-color:transparent; overflow:auto; z-index:2;"> <center><table><tr><td><table><tr><td>
<style type="text/css">
table, tr, td { background-color:transparent; border:none; border-width:0;} body { background-image:url(BACKGROUND IMAGE URL HERE);
background-attachment:fixed; background-repeat:repeat-y;
background-position:top center; overflow-x:hidden; margin-top: 300px; }
div.topbanner { position: absolute; top: 20; left: 15px; margin-left: 17px; width: 817px; height: 300px; } </style> <div class="topbanner"><img src="PICTURE URL HERE" border="0"></div></div></center></table></tr></td></table></tr></td>
P.S. Sorry if I sound mean or whatever |

| Naw, you don't sound mean. There's no end code for a reason; it works better that way. |

very useful information =)
putfile doesn't allow direct linking to files hosted on their server though, so the link wont stay valid for me than a few hours at a time or something like that.
thanks still! |

| Yeah, putfile sucks. I only use them if I have a large picture or movie file. |

[quote="luv2dostuf"]Naw, you don't sound mean. I guess it was mine it was struggling on.. |

| I guess its all in how you use the code. I only use it with an overlay consisting of just pictures so there's no other code interfering with it. |
