Overview

You hit the zombie. It's still standing. Was that a good hit? Is it nearly dead? Is your wolf about to die behind you while you find out? Bedrock Health Bars ends the guessing.

Every mob you fight gets a bar that slides to its exact health, with a pale trail that holds the old health for a moment after each hit, so even a small hit on a big mob is easy to see. The colour shifts from green to red as health drops. Above the bar is what the mob is, in your language (players and named mobs keep the game's own name tag), and its health sits right on the bar. Choose whether bars show on injured mobs, on whatever you're looking at too, or only while you sneak, and how far away, from 8 to 32 blocks.

Damage floats up in red and healing in green. Real critical hits, a falling melee hit, are large and orange, and big hits that aren't crits are a larger red, so orange always means you earned it. On a busy server you only see numbers for mobs you or your pets are fighting, unless you choose to see everyone's. You never see your own bar or numbers, or the bar of the horse you're riding.

Pick from six styles, with a live preview in the menu: Classic, Souls, Hearts, Pokémon, Segmented and Minimal. Every player picks their own, so you can see Hearts while your friend sees Souls on the very same zombie.

Party frames put your party members and your wolves on your HUD, with live 3D portraits that move and flash red when they get hurt, and a health bar in your style. Invite friends from the Party page and you see each other's health wherever they are in your dimension, dimmed when they're far away. Every frame has an arrow pointing the way to that friend or wolf, and how far away they are. The party leader wears a crown, invites and removes players, and can hand the crown on. Named wolves get a frame first. Put the frames in any of six positions and show 1 to 6. They stay up alongside other add-ons that draw on the HUD, like JAWA and Bedrock Advancements. Your own pets' bars also stay up for you at any health.

/mygen:healthbars opens one menu with a page each for health bars, damage numbers and your party, and every change applies straight away. Admins get a Server settings page: switch any feature off for everyone (players' choices are kept for when it comes back), set and lock the default style, and cap the range and how many bars show at once. Mobs with Invisibility don't give themselves away, and the Wither and Ender Dragon keep just their own boss bar, unless an admin allows ours.

Add-on creators can show their own numbers in the same style with the healthbars:number script event.

Changelog

  1. v1.0.0 Latest

The first release. Started as the combat feedback module in Affinity; everything below is new or rebuilt since.

    Health bars
    • A bar above creatures near you that slides to their exact health, with a pale trail that holds the old value for a moment after a hit and then drains. It shades from green to red as health drops.
    • Six styles, each player's own choice, with a preview in the settings: Classic, Souls, Hearts, Pokémon, Segmented and Minimal.
    • What the creature is above its bar, in your language, and its health as 14/20 on the bar. Players and named creatures keep the game's own name tag, so nothing shows twice.
    • When bars show is your choice: when injured, when injured or looked at, or only while sneaking. Your own range, 8 to 32 blocks.
    • Your pets' bars stay up for you whenever they're near, at any health.
    • You never see your own bar, and never the bar of what you're riding.
    • Creatures with Invisibility hide their bar, and the Wither and the Ender Dragon keep just their own boss bar, unless an admin allows ours.
    Damage numbers
    • Damage floats up in red and healing in green. Real critical hits (a falling melee hit) are large and orange; other big hits are a larger red.
    • Only for your own fights unless you choose otherwise: your pets, and creatures you or your pets hit, or that hit you, in the last 10 seconds. Healing always shows.
    Party frames
    • Your party's and your wolves' live portraits, names and health on the HUD, in your bar style.
    • Invite players from the Party page; party members show in each other's frames, before your wolves, anywhere in the same dimension (dimmed when far away). Named wolves come before unnamed ones.
    • Each frame shows an arrow pointing the way to that party member or wolf, and how far away they are.
    • Parties have a leader, with a crown on their portrait: whoever sent the first invite. Only the leader invites players, removes them and hands on the lead; anyone can leave.
    • Choose where the frames go (six positions), how many (1 to 6), how far away wolves stay in them (16 to 128 blocks), and whether party members, wolves, and direction and distance show.
    • They stay up alongside JAWA, Bedrock Advancements and other add-ons that use the title.
    Settings
    • /mygen:healthbars opens a menu with a page each for health bars, damage numbers and your party. Changes apply straight away.
    • Admins get a Server settings page: switch any feature off for everyone (players' own choices are kept for when it comes back on), set the default style and lock everyone to it, cap the range and the number of bars at once (50 by default), and allow bars on invisible creatures and bosses.
    For other add-ons
    • A healthbars:number script event shows numbers in the same style, from commands or scripts (see the README).
    Requirements
    • Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.50 or newer. No experimental toggles.

    Works with Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.50+
