Offline Trident Killer

Overview

You know the drill. You spend hours building the perfect trident killer. Pistons firing, water flowing, mobs dying: a beautiful symphony of automated violence. Then you log off, and your trident instantly forgets how XP works. Rude.

Offline Trident Killer fixes that. When your trident kills a mob while you're offline, XP orbs still drop, just like they should have all along. It's not a buff. It's a correction to Mojang's lack of faith in your engineering skills. When you're online, everything works exactly like vanilla - the addon doesn't touch it.

New in 1.1.0: Looting comes to the farm. Stand near the farm holding a Looting sword and your offline trident borrows it - the nearest player within 32 blocks (or whatever range you set with /otk:range) lends the trident the Looting level of whatever is in their main hand. Player-kill drops are back too: iron ingots from zombies, copper from drowned and wither skeleton skulls. Vanilla only gives these when a player gets the kill, so offline farms never saw them. Now they do.

The addon doesn't keep a hand-written list of drops that goes out of date. It reads each mob's own loot table from the game, so drops stay accurate even when Mojang changes them. It only adds what an online kill would have given, so you won't get double drops. XP matches vanilla too - zombies drop 5, blazes drop 10, baby zombies drop 12, and mobs wearing armour drop bonus XP per piece.

Perfect for servers and realms - built a sick farm on your Realm but your friends can only use it when you're online? Not anymore. Your mates can AFK at your farm with a Looting III sword while you sleep, and come home with a skull collection. Use /otk:toggle to turn the addon on or off for the whole world, /otk:debug to see every offline kill's XP and extra drops in chat, and /otk:range to change how close a player must be to lend their Looting.

Changelog

  1. v1.2.0 Latest

    Added

    • Adjustable Looting Range: /otk:range <blocks> sets how close a player must be to the trident to lend it their Looting (1-256 blocks, default 32). Run /otk:range on its own to see the current range. Saved per world

    Works with Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.40+

  2. v1.1.0

    Added

    • Looting Support: If the thrower is offline, the nearest player within 32 blocks of the trident lends it the Looting level of the item in their main hand
    • Player-Kill Drops: Offline kills now get the drops that normally need a player kill, such as iron ingots from zombies, copper ingots from drowned and wither skeleton skulls
    • Uses Real Loot Tables: Extra drops are worked out from each mob's own loot table in the game, so they stay accurate when Mojang changes drops
    • Commands: /otk:toggle to enable or disable the addon, and /otk:debug to show each offline kill's XP and extra drops in chat

    Changed

    • Requires Minecraft 1.26.40+ (now uses @minecraft/server 2.9.0)
    • Thrower Tracking: Tridents are now tagged with the thrower's player ID rather than their name, so gamertag changes don't break tracking. Tridents tagged by 1.0.0 keep working
    • Respects doMobLoot: No extra XP or drops when the doMobLoot game rule is off
    • /scriptevent otk:toggle still works alongside the new command

    Works with Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.40+

  3. v1.0.0
